High court halts SHA recruitment pending KUCO's case ruling

The High Court has issued a conservatory order, halting the recruitment process for several key positions at the Social Health Authority (SHA).

The decision follows a petition filed by the Kenya Union of Clinical Officers (KUCO) challenging the legality of the recruitment drive.

Justice Lawrence N. Mugambi of the Milimani Law Courts ordered that the petition and supporting documents be served by the close of business on March 24, 2025, and responses be filed within three days.

The court order prohibits the Social Health Authority, its employees, officers, and agents from proceeding with the planned hiring for multiple positions until the case is heard and decided.

The disputed recruitment process aimed to fill key positions such as Assistant Director County Coordination, Director Benefits Management, and Principal Officers for various county and beneficiary management roles.

KUCO, through its Secretary-General, George Gibore, claimed that the hiring process was illegal and required judicial intervention.

The next hearing for further directions is set for April 10, 2025.
